You are hereBlogs / RodG's blog / Websites helping communities: Literal "community plumbing" with Drupal
|
A couple of weeks ago we had great success with a website. One of our community clients experienced a neighborhood water outage. This unfortunate event affected several hundred residences. However, residents were at least easily kept updated via their community website. Community management could post updates using simple web forms. For residents who had registered, email updates announced site updates at regular intervals. |

All of this was achieved with the Drupal content system that Limitless Horizons, LLC delivered. The community, the customer, did not need extra configuration or help from us during the event. In fact we learned of it late, when the community informed us of their system's success. They also announced a 50% increase in the number of residents signed up for email updates! Here's an example of the website during the event. You can see headlines on the right that give access to recent updates. Just above the main content is the most recent urgent update, framed so that it "pops out" for viewers. For fellow Drupalists, this is our module set: Drupal 6.x, Acquia Marina, Admin Menu, Advanced Help, Backup Migrate, Calendar, CCK, Date, File Field, Google Analytics, Image API, Image Cache, Image Field, Lightbox2, Logintoboggan, Mailhandler, Markdown, Mass Contact, Notify, Pathauto, Poormanscron, Token, Views, and Views Slideshow. |
